Tunnels Beach

Four great coastal tunnels, hand-crafted by Welsh miners in 1820s. With exceptional views and a tidal pool, it is a historical masterpiece. The tidal pool is very good place for swimming, and there are toilets, information centre, and a small shop snack bar. Interesting about this beach, is that it’s history is carved in the walls, making it enjoyable – but please be aware to bring swimming stuff and a picnic with you so you can get the best out of it.

Hele Beach

Hele Bay is a small cove on the edge of Ilfracombe. The beach is sand with lots of rock pools and there is easy access to the beach. Located adjacent to Hillsborough Nature Reserve, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag award for its safe clean waters.

Woolacombe Beach

4.8 km long, award-winning sandy beach close to Ilfracombe. Is a beach with excellent services including daily cleaning and beach hut rentals. There are operating lifeguards, and the beach has superb views to Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel. Close to the beach you can find restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Lee Bay Beach

Lee Bay Beach is a secluded little cove well worth the visit as it has rock pools and beautiful views – known as ‘the jewel in the crown of Lee’, is a beach-lover dream. Located close to the picturesque village of Lee, Lee Bay Beach enjoys a climate heavily wooded in places offering great walking paths. Lee village is locally referred as ‘Fuchsia Valley’ because of scarlet flowers that can be found everywhere.

Combe Martin Beach

Surrounded by glorious countryside and sea cliffs in an attractive location lies Combe Martin’s beach. The beach itself is a mixture of mostly shingles and pebbles, but it becomes sandier as you approach the water. It’s a great location for swimming and a great place to visit with children because there are many rock pools on either side of the beach that they will definitely find interesting.

Saunton Sands

Saunton Sands is a beach situated between the villages of Braunton and Croyde. Saunton Sands is a long beach with over 3 miles of stunning golden sand, popular among surfers and swimmers due to the long stretch of water and it is much more suited to beginners and intermediate surfers than the northern Croyde Bay. All dogs are welcomed and allowed all year on this beach.
